Myopia Management

Myopia Management

WHAT IS MYOPIA?

Myopia, more commonly known as nearsightedness, is a condition where individuals are not able to see objects in the far distances and are only able to see objects that are close to them.  Correcting myopia with glasses will help individuals see objects clearly in the distance, but the underlying pathology is still present.

The pathology is that the eye is physically stretched out and all the structures within the eye anatomically permanently change.  There is no reversal of this pathology.  As a result, nearsighted people are more at risk for Retinal Holes, Retinal tears, Retinal detachments, secondary Cataracts and Glaucoma!  And as the prescriptions get worse with every eye exam visit, the risks get higher!
